– It’s freezing again in Hawaii. Well, not really freezing, but Winter is certainly making its mark on the islands, with current nighttime lows dipping into the 60’s. After waking to single digits this morning from our North Carolina base, we dream of those lovely warm lows in the 60’s.

  1. How very sad the international market place has closed, what a wonderful icon now lost. Upon my visit to Hawaii from Australia, I found myself going back many times shopping here. It truly will be missed, along with the wonderful atmosphere of this place and the beautiful people that I came across on these market stalls. I hope something just as inviting is put in its place and all these lovely people find other employment.

    1. You are so right about the International Marketplace! What a treasure lost. It was a favorite place of mine as well.

  2. We are also sad to see the International Market Place go. It was such a unique market under the trees.

We hope that the vendors and employees can quickly find new locations.

  3. I have just read about the International Market Place closing. My husband and I were married on Oahu in 1998 and have returned to Oahu 7 times since, everytime we have visited the market place to buy our t-shirts and souvenirs, what a terrible shame for everyone to see the demise of such an iconic place. sad news indeed.

    1. International Market Place will be replaced by a high end shopping center anchored by Sax Fifth Avenue.
