If you’ve never visited Hawaii, you’re going to love this new feature from Google Maps. 🙂

So, what is it? Well, Google has announced the addition of Hawaii to its Street Views project, meaning you can take a virtual “stroll” around the places you’ve visited, or the places you plan to see some day.

For example, want to be on Waikiki beach while stuck in Chicago? Now you can!

Or, maybe you want to watch surfers on Oahu’s North Shore. Now you can see what the parking lot looks like–believe me, this will save you doing a lot of U-turns!

Or perhaps you dream of something more tranquil. How about sitting on a Maui beach looking out on to Molokini?

If you’re not familiar with how to use Google’s Street View function, basically you need to click on the yellow man figure drag him to the section of the map you want to see. The yellow man figure is at the top of the zoom in and out function on the top left of the map. For more ideas and instructions on using Google Street View click here.

Whether you’re planning your Hawaii vacation, or simply want to relive your past trip–we know we have both types of readers at Go Visit Hawaii–you can thank Google for this virtual slice of paradise!

  1. i didn’t know this was a new feature, but i was using it the other day actually! i was trying to figure out which hotel my family stayed at in Waikiki when i was 10. (and also scoping out places i might want to stay at if i go again.) Google really makes it feel like you’re there!
