New Website Provides Current Hawaii VOG Information
As you probably already know, the big island of Hawaii has experienced elevated levels of the volcanic gas, Sulfur Dioxide since Halemaumau Crater began venting large quantities of gas in March last year. The Hawaii State Department of Health has just launched a new website that provides up to date information on sulfur dioxide levels.
The new website reports the air quality levels in several areas of the Big Island that are more prone to be affected by VOG. The website provides reports from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hilo, Puna, Mountain View, Pahala, and Kona.
The new website is easy to read and interpret. In fact, a color coded chart is provided to explain the air quality.
If you are going to be visiting the Big Island and you have Internet access, I’d recommend you check out this website. If you don’t have Internet access, you can call the Department of Health’s toll-free VOG help line at 866-767-5044 for daily updates on VOG levels.
