Hawaii Vacation Deals and News Roundup for January 27

  • imageAfter an 18 month absence of lava flowing to the ocean inside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park’s boundaries, there’s a new lava ocean entry point inside the park. This new point is at Wahaula which is between the end of the Chain of Craters Road and the other lava flow point at Waikupanaha which is at the end of Highway 130 near Kalapana. Based on the photos from KGMB, it appears that the new flow is not nearly as dramatic as the more established ocean entry point at Waikupanaha. Per KGMB, rangers at the national park are urging people to go to the Waikupanaha viewing station instead of Wahaula, because it is safer. See my tips for lava viewing. 1. @ Mike – Hawaiian Airlines typically scores pretty high in satisfaction surveys and they also have a great on-time record.
