Hi Barbara - I'm so glad you ran across Go Visit Hawaii! Your video is fantastic. I've seen lava flow to the ocean, but not those amazing explosions like you saw. Thank you for posting your video on YouTube for the world to see!

Enjoy the rest of your time in Hawaii and please do come back and visit this site again. We've got a nice little community building here for those planning a trip to Hawaii, those living in paradise and those that are day dreaming about their next Hawaii vacation. - Aloha!

Hi Sheila

Just found your blog while searching "visiting Hawaii". My family and I are still visiting on the islands for the next week, Your blog is fantastic. Noticed you posted my video of the lava flow Waikupanaha, thank you. Your guess of the date was spot on, we watched the eruption on June 29th. This is such an amazing event to experience live, the video does not hold a candle to watching this in person.

All My Best!

Hi golfnutn8 - that must have been amazing to grow up seeing those kind of images. Kilauea is very special and nothing short of fascinating! I encourage anyone to get out to see it while it's still active.

Growing up on the Big Island I can vividly remember seeing the curtains of lava shooting high into the nights sky as we drove from Hilo back to Kona. It was a haunting and beautiful image. Fire a hundred feet in the sky. Purely captivating!
