Hawaii Vacation News Round up for February 22nd

On this Aloha Friday edition, we have more volcano closure updates, deals, and Waikiki and Honolulu tidbits.  So let’s get started.

  • There’s an update to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park closures due to high Sulfur Dioxide levels.  Park officials have added more closures, with the biggest one being that Crater Rim Drive is now completely closed in the section between Jagger Museum and south/southeast to Chain of Craters road.  The previous SO2 warning allowed visitors to drive that section road with out stopping and with windows closed.
  • Prince Resorts Hawaii have a Spring into Summer promotion offering $50 resort credit for each night of stay.  The special offer is valid from 4/1/08 through 9/30/08.  Prince has hotels in Waikiki, Maui, and the Big Island.
  • Jimmy Buffet is coming to the Waikiki Beachcomber, well sort of.  The resort announced plans for a Jimmy Buffet dining and entertainment venue slated to open late this year.
  • The LA Times says that Honolulu’s Chinatown is now a hot place to dine, party or just gawk.

Happy Aloha Friday!
