Luau on Big Island of Hawaii – Prices, Reviews, Schedules

If you are looking for a great luau experience for your Big Island vacation, we’ve created this very helpful list of luau options, days, prices and reviews.

We know that there are a number of different luau options for anyone planning a trip to Hawaii. We also know that researching the different luau options is fairly difficult as not all the relevant information is readily available. As promised in the article on tips for choosing a Hawaiian luau, we’ve researched and compiled this information to assist you in finding your special luau experience.

Please note that all pricing and timing was accurate at the time of posting. Luau can and do change pricing, timing and websites without warnings. When I’m alerted to a change, I do update this listing. We do periodically update this page. The most recent updates were made in March 2024.

For simplicity and easy scanning, we will only list the starting price for an adult ticket. Pricing for children is less. In many cases, you can upgrade to better seating and amenities for an extra fee. If your budget allows, we recommend the upgraded options as they generally offer the best experiences.

I see that the Gathering of the Kings is being directed to our eventsbyislandbreeze site I was hoping that you could point the other 2 luaus to that site as well.

  4. Hi Sheila,

Thank you for an amazing site that offers a wealth of information. Your site has been instrumental in helping me plan our tenth anniversary trip to Hawaii in a few weeks.

I am still debating whether to go to a Laua. I did find a free show at the shops that are not far from the Fairmont Orchid where we are staying. It’s not a luau but the reviews for the short show itself seem to be good. I also read on some other sites that the lauas on the big island are not as good as lauas on other islands. What is your take on this?

We are only planning to be on the big island for our anniversary trip. I’m hoping one day we will return to visit other islands. So if the lauas are better on other islands, maybe it’s best we save the luau for another trip and use the money towards a different excursion (I’m thinking the horsback riding in waipio valley)?

Secondly, I have come across some good deals on Hawaii Discount for some Luaus, but I am unsure as to their credibility. I have come across a lot of mixed reviews on Hawaii Discount. I am wondering if you have ever booked anything through them and know whether they are a reliable website to book through or not.

I look forward to hearing from you!

    1. We’ve been to many luaus. They’re all pretty similar. Have you looked into the luau at the Orchid? We went to that luau in March. The food and show were very well done.

We’ve been to the free show at the Shops at Mauna Lani and it was quite a good show, especially considering it’s free.

We can’t vouch for Hawaii Discount one way or the other.

    1. No. You could check local papers for an informal, fundraiser luau on the Hilo side when you’re on the island.
