Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for October 4th

- It’s official, Mickey Mouse is building a resort on Oahu. The 800-room resort is planned to open in 2011. I’m not sure what to think about Disney’s presence in Hawaii. What do you think?
- Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines topped the list for on-time flight arrivals.
- Aloha is adding new flights to southern California beginning on January 7th. One new flight is between Kona (Big Island) and San Diego. The others are between Kauai and Orange County and San Diego.

It’s funny to have Aloha add new flights to Orange County, when the residents there already have Disney!

I remember a few years back when Disney wanted to build a theme park inside Diamond Head Crater on Oahu, but they calculated it was too small for them.
I wonder how the Waianae coast residents feel about getting more traffic between Koolina and town.
I guess the land in Koolina must have already been zoned for hotels since it usually takes years and years to get a new hotel approved on Oahu.

With it being 4 years away from opening, I wonder if that is enough time to address potential traffic issues?
