When you next visit Maui, you may see something that would look better placed in Europe. Yep, Maui is getting its first traffic roundabout – you know, the circular traffic island that no one ever seems to figure out how to enter or leave.

It must be one heck of a roundabout though, as Mayor Charmaine Tavares is seeking as much as $3 million in county and federal funds.

The budget request includes $200,000 in design money, $500,000 for construction and another $300,000 for construction management services. The anticipated $2 million in federal funds would go to construction.
